Project 3
Each group member will write a 1000 word rationale/reflection in which you will discuss your motivation and how you planned to execute it as well as how things went in the production stage, including what choices you made in making the video and why. As for the reflection aspect, you will look back on the effects of your decisions throughout the process: what were their consequences? what possibilities did they open up or perhaps close off? Also, what do you think of the video now that it’s done? What would you do the same and what might you do differently the next time you engage in a process like this?
For our third assignment for the semester we were asked to create a video focusing on a local problem in the Champaign-Urbana area. Over the past four-years as a student at the University of Illinois I have been constantly been aware of the homeless population that surrounds the campus. My curiosity about this group of people has continued to intrigue me. When we were assigned this video project I instantly knew that I wanted to create a documentary that focused on the homeless. All of my group members have had different interactions with the homeless population, which we felt would help give our video many perspectives during the planning phase.
Once we had our idea we had to start thinking about the logistics behind this assignment. Recently, I purchased the new iPhone 4. The release of iMovie for iPhone gives the ability to not only shoot a movie on my phone, but also edit it. My original intent for this assignment was to edit and film the whole documentary
